Waterproof, durable and lightweight – our 17 Watt Solar Kit recently made the journey along the winding Colorado River on an 18-day rafting trip to the Grand Canyon. Flagstaff photographer John Sherman reviewed our portable solar system via Photography Life as an option for photographers to keep their digital cameras powered up while capturing images away from the grid. To keep things dry while out on the river, Sherman beta tested a waterproof housing unit for our V72 battery (now available as the upgraded V88 battery pack). Even with inclement weather, John was able to keep his batteries charged up thanks to the V72’s awesome capacity.

Our 17 Watt Panel and waterproof housing unit made John a happy camper. “I like that the Voltaic system I tested was relatively compact, lightweight (~3 pounds), simple to use and lived up to its published specs.”

After a good experience in the Grand Canyon, John took our kit to test it out in some great sun settings in Moab, Utah.
