If you have any of our 4 Watt or 10 Watt solar chargers, here’s an easy way to add extra power. Simply connect one of our portable solar panels to the second of two cables coming from the panels and you can increase the total Wattage by 50-168%.

For the 4 Watt chargers: Fuse 4W, Amp, Switch, OffGrid
Connect a 3.4 Watt or 2 Watt Solar Panel directly into the panel output. Make sure that the panel Voltage switch is set to 6V. The other output from the panels should be connected to the battery. Point both sets of panels at the sun. The total Wattage will now be 6 (if you use 2.0 Watt panel) or 7.4 Watts (if you use a 3.4 Watt panel).

For the 10 Watt chargers:
Fuse 10W, Array Solar Laptop Charger
Connect a 16.8 Watt Solar Panel -> V60 Barrel Adapter -> 5.5×2.5mm Wire -> Solar Panel Output. Make sure the panel Voltage switch is set to 18V on the Fuse 10W or Array. The other output from the panels should be connected to the battery. Point both sets of panels at the sun. The total Wattage will now be 26.8 Watts at 18V.

Hi. I currently have the 6 watt solar panel with the V15 battery. I was thinking about buying another 6watt solar panel and attempting to chain both 6watt panels together. Is that possible? If yes how would I connect them? Would that provide enough to power the V44 battery?

Possible to somehow charge a V72 laptop battery with a Voltaic Switch 6 Watt bag? Would I need some kind of a special cable to connect from Switch 6W to V72 to be able to charge? The thing is I want to buy the Switch for everyday use but would like to be able to charge my macbook with the very same panel so I´m thinking of buying the V72 battery and somehow connect it to the Switch panel. I understand that charging time from the sun would take longer of course.

    Possible?

      Hi Nandi,

It is not possible. The Switch has a 6 Volt panel which is great for charging USB batteries, but the V72 requires 14 – 20 Volts to charge. We typically pair it with a panel or panel system that outputs 18 Volts. To see all the options that solar charge laptops, go to https://www.voltaicsystems.com/shop-gear and click on the laptop icon.

        Thank you for the info.

Another question. Is there more than one type of Switch bag, an older and a newer model? I ask this, since amazon claims that for 149 dollars instead of 110 dollar you can buy a “newly redesigned, 50% more powerful” switch bag. Is this a marketing hoax from amazon or is it true? When I compare the two options the only difference I see is that it sais “The Switch V2….” but the details of the two bags seems to be the same when it comes to efficency.

        Thank you in advance.

Would it be possible to use a 9 watt Solar panel with the 10 watt Array solar laptop charger? I would like to increase my charging speed and I know that it obviously wouldn’t be nearly as quick as if I attached the 16.5 watt panel, but I’m thinking of portablility here. It’d be easier to have another panel I could fit into my backpack

No, they are different Voltages (6 for the 9 Watt, 18 for the 17 Watt panel) and wouldn’t work together. You could either do another 17 Watt panel or a 10 Watt Kit. You could also just get the panels with edge and corner mounts and skip the battery that is included with the 10 Watt Kit if you already have a Voltaic battery.

    Hi,

Is it possible to connect two 16.8 watt panels with each other to charge the v72 battery?

Yes. This will halve the charge times in less than optimal conditions and decrease by about 30% in perfect conditions. The V72 has a max input of about 1.2A so in perfect conditions (25C, panels pointed at sun, no clouds), the panels will exceed that output. Easiest way to connect them together is to use the 3 Panel Circuit box and set it to 6V setting. This is a bit counter intuitive, but the 6V setting is really the “parallel” setting and you’ll get 18V output from the two 18V panels.

Need a clarification. With a 10watt Fuse and a 16.8 watt panel WITH a 1panel 18v circuit box on the 16.8w panel the two panels can just be cross connected with the V60 output wire? No barrel connector needed.

You could although it would require a custom cable and might get a little messy. I think to 16 Watt panels would be easier to manage.
