Q: Can the Amp Solar Charger connect to and charge a Nintendo DSI? If so what would I need to purchase? A: Yes. You can charge the DSI via the USB port on the included battery on any of our solar chargers. |
What you’ll need: Since the DSI has a proprietary connector, you’ll need to get a USB charging cable from Nintendo or another 3rd party. The cable connects the battery to the DSI. Here’s one for $3.49 with shipping from buy.com. If that link dies, just search on “usb charging cable Nintendo DSI” and you will find lots of options. |
Expected performance: The Nintendo DSI battery is 3.7V, 850mAh or 3.1 Watt hours. We expect you can charge the DSI from direct sunlight in about 3 hours. When full, the internal battery on the Amp (or Fuse, Switch, OffGrid or Converter) will likely charge the DSI’s battery about 2.5 times. Note: The internal USB battery is 11 Watt hours in capacity, but there tends to be about 25% loss going from one battery into another. |
