Spark Solar Tablet Case for Tablets at CES Las Vegas, NV – January 7, 2011 - Las Vegas, NV – January 7, 2011 - At CES today, Voltaic Systems opened up new opportunities for grid-free computing with the unveiling of the Spark Solar Case for Tablets, including the iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab. Voltaic is also previewing the MilliAmp Solar Charger which brings fast charging to phones on any budget.  Perfect for mobile workers and global travelers, the Spark provides an hour of iPad runtime for every hour in direct sunlight. The Spark also provides a solution for when sun is unavailable. With solar, charge times are determined by the amount and quality of the solar cells. The solar panels use high-efficiency monocristalline cells on a lightweight surface encased in a clear coating. Together, they will charge an iPad in about 10 hours. The panels are waterproof and built to withstand the abuse of everyday use. High Output Battery Most tablets, including the iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab, charge most efficiently from high-powered USB ports which output 2 Amps, about four times the current of a typical USB port. The Spark’s 38 Watt hour battery has both a high-powered port for tablets and a regular port for phones and other handheld electronics. Power for Digital Cameras Fast charging for a tablet also means fast charging for professional DSLR cameras. Users can connect a 12 Volt battery charger cradle to the solar output of the Spark, which is selectable between 6 and 12 Volts. Protective and Lightweight Case The Spark case is fully padded and lined for a snug and soft fit. It can be held by its handle, the optional shoulder strap, or placed inside another bag or sleeve.
