Dell’s new line of Ultrabooks also featured a new “standard” size of universal barrel adapter. The new size is 4.5mm OD, 3.0mm ID with a center pin We’ve also seen it listed as 2.8mm in some cases. We are working on adding this adapter to our lineup, but Dell has made an dongle (and you thought that word died in the 90s) so that you can use your old Dell charger or our “J” 7.4mm OD adapter to connect to your Ultrabook. This is similar to what Apple did with their MagSafe to MagSafe 2 adapter and keeps a lot of old electronics in use. In addition, we have a 5.5×2.5 to 4.5×2.8mm adapter that we are testing to see if that is compatible as well. Stay tuned.
