Q: I’m going on a 14-day hiking trip and want to make sure my Petzl Headlamp stays charged. Will the Fuse solar charger work?

A: Yes, although how depends on which model headlamp you own. Petzl’s Tikka 2 CORE series has a lithium-polymer battery that charges off any USB port (which we think is pretty cool design). So you can simply plug it into the output of the Fuse’s battery. It is a 900mAh battery, so we expect about 2.5-3 hours of direct sunlight will fully charge the light. The Fuse’s battery has enough capacity to charge the Petzl about 2 and a half times.

If you have another Petzl, you can use the Fuse if the Petzl is compatible with re-chargeable batteries. To find out if yours does, look at this chart. If your model does work with rechargeable batteries, you can charge your NiMh AA or AAAs with a USB charger like this…we’re working on our own that we hope to be releasing shortly.
