A customer sent in pictures of his new laptop solar charger kit in use in the Indian Himalayas. He’s using 3 of our 3 Watt solar panels to charge our V60 Laptop Battery and V15 USB Battery.
Here’s the kit during the assembly process. The panels are connected together via simple webbing.
Here are the panels folded up, very compact!
Update: Voltaic now makes a complete line of foldable solar panels.
THIS IS IT! This is exactly the layout I am looking to put together! I too would love to see some plans for this put together. Your trekkers would eat it up. I love my 10W Fuse, but trimming weight is always a quest in itself.
would like to buy this kit -can you supply all that’s needed with plans?
Cheers Tom
Hi Tom,
You can get the parts here: https://www.voltaicsystems.com/10wattkit.php
No detailed plans yet, but we will work on putting them together. There seems to be a lot of interest in construction details.
Can anyone provide more details about how this was accomplished, ie plans on how to put it together?
We’ll see if we can get more pics… / jeff
Awesome job on a minimalistic panel array. I’m not sure from these photo’s but I made a very similar thing using lightweight nylon fabric with grommets that I can hang the panels up on string. Another tip: by spacing two of the panels a little bit more than necessary you can even fold the battery in between two of the panels making the whole unit pretty solid and compact. Excess fabric (or straps) can then be used to protect the panel surfaces from rubbing. Just an idea for future makers.
Cheers,
